As Duke of Liechtenstein, I am leading a committee to pass a bill called the “Every Man’s Job Bill” in which once a year presidents, managers, CEO’s, and team leads will have to work jobs under their current position. Though many details still need to be worked out, the structure basically states that upper management will need to work lower and middle management positions for a period of time. This is to do a few things:
- It is to keep the company leaders humble and remember where they came from.
- It is to make sure that the company leaders remain relevant with the inner workings of the company. In other words, they will understand better why and where departments need help and not simply make random unwarranted decisions such as hiring needlessly, laying off needlessly.
- They will grasp the essence of what each employee does and appreciate their work.
- They will be able to educate themselves in what they don’t know about certain positions in the company.
- Company leaders will be able to develop a better rapport with the entire company and raise morale easier.
Too often are decisions made needlessly, recklessly, or even naively because the company leader does not fully understand the situation at hand. Too often are they willing to outsource for cheaper labor instead of shifting resources. They are often naïve and do not even know what happens with the inner workings of production and basic company knowledge.
